UPDATE ON THE BRUSSELS TERROR ATTACKS
Update on Brussels Attack
At least 31 people have been killed and many seriously injured in attacks at Brussels international airport and a city metro station.
Twin blasts hit Zaventem airport at 07:00 GMT, killing 11 and injuring 81, Belgium's health minister said.
Another explosion struck Maelbeek metro station an hour later. Twenty people were killed, Brussels mayor Yvan Mayeur said.
Belgium has now raised its terrorism threat to its highest level.
The attacks come four days after Salah Abdeslam, the main fugitive in the Paris attacks, was seized in Brussels.
Prime Minister Charles Michel called the latest attacks "blind, violent and cowardly", adding: "This is a day of tragedy, a black day... I would like to call on everyone to show calmness and solidarity".
European Council president Donald Tusk said: "These attacks mark another low by the terrorists in the service of hatred and violence."
US President Barack Obama called the blasts "outrageous attacks against innocent people".
The airport and the entire public transport system in Brussels are closed.
Belgian police have issued a wanted notice for a suspect after bomb attacks at Brussels' main airport and a metro station left more than 30 people dead.
The man is suspected of involvement in the twin explosions which tore through Zaventem airport.
He was seen on CCTV pushing a trolley through the airport with two other suspects.
Both those men are believed to have died in the blasts, possibly by detonating suicide devices.
So-called Islamic State (IS) said it was behind both the attacks in the Belgian capital.
An online statement from the group said the locations were "carefully selected" and warned of worse to come for "Crusader states allied against the Islamic State".

Ibinabo Fiberesima Opens Up On Her Relationship With Suraj Giwa’s Family
Currently troubled Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president and Nollywood star, Ibinabo Fiberesima has revealed that no relationship currently exists between herself and the family of Suraj Giwa, the victim of her 2006 manslaughter incident.
Fiberesima who is looking to the Nigerian Supreme Court to overturn her 5-year jail sentence recently upheld by a Lagos state Appeal Court told Showtime Celebrity that the family of the deceased banned her from communicating with them.
Contrary to reports that have been making the rounds that the actor constantly communicates with late Suraj Giwa’s family, she revealed that she was warned to stop visiting his mother.
“I don’t have a relationship with the family. They banned me from coming to see them. I used to visit the mother, but they warned me to stop coming to their house. So, I can only pray for them and that’s what I did always,” Ibinabo Fiberesima revealed.
According to her, she doesn’t even have their the telephone number of any member of the family.
She said, “If I had their GSM lines, I would have sent them messages. But like I said earlier, I was banned from visiting them. They said I should not dare get close to them.”

YOUR TONGUE SAYS A LOT ABOUT YOUR HEALTH !
Believe it or not, your tongue can tell you a lot about your health. There are different things to look out for that will tell you if you are healthy or not.
A normal tongue is pink and flat, with no ridges or cracks in it. If you have a bright red tongue that could be sign that you have a vitamin deficiency. A lack of vitamin B12 or folic acid can make your tongue look red, according to Cleveland Clinic. To remedy this, eat more green leafy vegetables.
If your tongue looks swollen and has scallops or little waves around the edges, this could be a sign of a thyroid condition. Other symptoms include frequent bruising, tiredness, hair loss and low blood pressure, according to Dr. Jeremy Kaslow. It could also mean you are dehydrated.
A cracked tongue can be a sign of an autoimmune disorder, but it is usually benign. Fissures appear in your youth, and can get bigger as you get older. Consult a dentist if you are concerned.
Having a brown or black tongue is a sign of bad dental hygiene. It can also appear with people that have diabetes or are taking antibiotics. Brush regularly and floss to prevent bacteria from growing.
If your tongue has a white coating it could be oral thrush, or a yeast infection in your mouth. If you smoke, it could be a symptom of leukoplakia which can lead to cancer.
Bumps on your tongue can be a sign of stress, or possibly cancer according to Reader’s Digest. Canker sores don’t usually last very long. See a doctor if these bumps don’t clear up within two weeks.

The Magic of Apple Cider !
THEY-SAID-APPLE-CIDER-VINEGAR-IS-GREAT-FOR-YOU-BUT-THIS-IS-WHAT-THEY-DIDN’T-TELL-YOU:-
Apple cider vinegar is a naturally occurring antibiotic, as well as antiseptic which fight germs and bacteria. Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar contains the “mother” of vinegar, which is a form of cellulose and bacteria. It’s those wispy-looking strands you might see in a bottle of vinegar. Those strands give the vinegar that characteristic sour taste. Historically, this “mother” is also thought to have many health benefits.According to various health sites and Bragg’s website, raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar has a variety of different health benefits, including soothing a sore throat, maintaining healthy skin, and removing toxins from the body. The only real negative that I’ve come across is that drinking a ton of apple cider vinegar, or any vinegar really, might be bad for your teeth.
There are some ways in which you can benefit from this acidic acid that you have never heard about:
The Wonder ‘Drug’ of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
HAIR LOSS:
If you are experiencing thinning hair or hair loss, a wonderful home remedy that can help is apple cider vinegar. It is normal to lose about 100 strands of hair every day, and usually even more when we shampoo. When this normal hair loss becomes a concern is when the hair’s natural growth cycle is for some reason disrupted so that it is shedding faster than it is growing. When hormones called androgens are to blame, hair follicles become damaged over time and hinder their ability to produce strong, healthy strands. The hair that does grow is thinner and weaker, brittle even. Other hair follicles die.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is chock full of nutrients and it will balance the pH of your scalp. It has been shown to thicken hair and remove dead skin cells that can clog follicles and hurt your hair’s ability to grow. And if you ever have an itchy scalp or dandruff, this vinegar will help with that too.
ASTHMA:
If you suffer from asthma, you’re familiar with the frightening sensation of not being able to breathe properly. While chances are you have an inhaler or medication, you may be looking for a natural way to treat your asthma. Although your doctor likely won’t want you to throw away the inhaler, apple cider vinegar is a homemade folk remedy that can work quite well as a companion treatment.
BLOOD LOSS:
In circumstances where the blood flow is too free and is too persistent like a nose bleeding without any apparent reason, then you can take 2 tsp of ACV in a glass of water 3 times per day. It will aid in restoring the natural clotting properties of the blood.
COUGHS:
A dry cough is both irritating and potentially painful. Afflicted with a dry cough, you may desire a remedy that does not involve medications and chemicals. A variety of home or natural remedies exist to treat a dry cough. On the list of these remedies is cider vinegar, also known as apple cider vinegar. Traditional grocers as well as health food markets stock raw apple cider vinegar, the ideal type of vinegar to resolve your dry cough.
DIARRHEA:
Apple Cider Vinegar is a great natural remedy for diarrhea. The vinegar acts an effective agent against many of the major bacteria that lead to diarrhea, and the high pectin concentration in the vinegar soothes the irritated lining of the colon. A suggested dosage is to mix 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar into an 8 oz glass of water, and drink this 3 times a day.
INSOMNIA:
Drink one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces of water just before bedtime.” — Julie Patel Carolyn Harrington says: “Some people find that drinking this mixture just before bedtime helps them to get to sleep quicker and sleep much longer. Although it is not known exactly how or why this works, there are enough people who swear by this remedy to give it some credence.”
DIZZINESS:
Apple cider vinegar is produced by fermenting the juice of red apples, particularly those varieties that are low in sugar and high in acidity. Apple cider vinegar is consumed as a salad dressing, although it’s probably better known as a folk remedy to combat a variety of health problems, especially gastrointestinal complaints. There are anecdotal reports that claim consuming apple cider vinegar is also effective for relieving dizziness and vertigo, but no clinical studies support such claims as of 2012. Although not well understood, apple cider vinegar can impact blood pressure and blood glucose levels, which may explain why it can relieve or cause dizziness in some users. Consult with your doctor before supplementing with apple cider vinegar.
EAR DISCHARGE:
To get rid of the fungus that may be causing the ear infection, apple cider vinegar is a good option.
Mix one part apple cider vinegar with an equal amount of water or alcohol. Soak a cotton ball in the solution.
Put the cotton ball in your ear like a plug and leave it for about five minutes.
Remove the cotton ball and lay down on your opposite side to drain the liquid from the ear. Use a hair dryer to dry your ear as much as possible.
If apple cider vinegar is not available, you can use white vinegar. If the cause of the ear infection is in the Eustachian tubes, try gargling with apple cider vinegar.
ECZEMA:
Take the usual dosage of ACV and honey with water and consume it 3 times a day with your meals. You can apply diluted ACV to the skin for couple of times a day (1 tsp to a half cup of water). Do not take salt because it will aggravate the condition considerably. People who suffer from eczema are usually potassium deficient.
EYES (TIRED AND SORE):
The cider vinegar therapy together with honey is the essential ingredients here. Two teaspoons of each taken in a glassful of water, three times a day. This mixture retards the onset of tired and sore eyes which are usually apparent in later life, as it supplies them with those vital elements essential to their health and functioning.
HEADACHES:
Being a nutritional powerhouse, apple cider vinegar helps reduce migraines. Apple cider vinegar also offers health benefits like aiding detoxification, controlling blood sugar, regulating high blood pressure, reducing bone pain, promoting weight loss and relieving constipation.
ARTHRITIS:
Combined with honey it can be used for treating arthritis. You can apply it externally for treating joint pain. You can drink a glass of water with 2 tsp of AVC and 2 tsp of honey 3 times a day. The affected place can be soaked in a solution of ACV for 10 minutes 2-3 times a day (1/4 cup of ACV and ½ cup of water). Poultice can also be made by soaking a cloth in a mixture of ACV and water and then wrap the place, securing it with a dry cloth to retain the heat. When the wet cloth cools down, wring it out in the hot solution and apply a fresh one. Repeat this procedure for couple of times.
FATIGUE:
When chronic fatigue appears then it means that the body needs attention. Most of the people affected with this condition do not have enough sleep. In order to cure a poor quality sleep, you can consume honey as it acts like a sedative to the body. After you take it, 20 minutes will be enough for it to be digested and absorbed in the body. It is a predigested sugar that has been digested into the stomach of the honey bee, requiring no effort on the part of the human stomach for digestion. Make a mixture of 3 tsp of ACV to a cup of honey and keep it by your bedside. Take the mixture before you go to bed. It will induce sound sleep within 1 hour. If you don’t fall asleep, then repeat the procedure.
FOOD POISONING:
Though acidic in nature apple cider vinegar has an alkaline effect due to the way it is metabolized in the body. Thus, it can alleviate various food poisoning symptoms. It can soothe the gastrointestinal lining and kill the bacteria, giving you instant relief.
Just mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of hot water and drink it before eating your food.
Alternatively, you can drink two to three teaspoons of undiluted apple cider vinegar.
HAYFEVER:
Apple cider vinegar is used to help treat truly countless ailments, and is also included in hay fever remedies. As reported on EarthClinic: “Apple Cider Vinegar is hands down our favorite remedy for stopping most allergies like pollen, dander, dust, animals food, etc. We aren’t kidding! We wish more people knew about this amazing home remedy for allergies.” One way to consume apple cider vinegar is to dilute 1-3 tablespoons in water and consume the drink throughout the day or over the course of a few hours. Sometimes you need to take ACV up to three times a day, but the best part is that whether taken daily or taken on command to stop the allergies – it works. Allergies could easily vanish within a couple hours of taking the magical liquid, although it could take a little longer if you’ve been experiencing the allergies for a day or more.
HEARING:
Apple cider vinegar is rich in magnesium, potassium, zinc and manganese. Deficiency in any one of these minerals can cause problems with hearing. Researchers at Rabin Medical Centre, Israel, found that magnesium treatment reduces the incidence of both temporary and permanent noise-induced hearing loss. They suggested that ‘Magnesium is a relatively safe and convenient adjunct to steroid treatment for enhancing the improvement in hearing, especially in the low-tone range, in patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss’. Further, cider has great antioxidant effects that prevents the action of sclerosis-causing free radicals. Dosage: 1 tsp cider vinegar + 1 tsp honey in a cup of water. Take 3 cups a day during 3 main meals. Use less if you notice heartburn.
HEARTBURN:
ACV mimics the acidic environment of the stomach and helps food to break down. Many people report reduced symptoms of reflux or heartburn after using Apple Cider Vinegar, which is logical, since many times these conditions are caused by too little stomach acid, rather than too much. Whenever I’ve had heartburn or reflux, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in water takes care of it!
HEMORRHAGES:
ACV helps in blood clot more easily. If a person consumes ACV regularly and cuts themselves, then the wound will dry up almost instantly. If the wounds do not heal quickly, then you can take 2 tsp of ACV mixed with half or a whole glass of water at mealtimes and in between. 6 glasses are needed for the whole day. You can apply a very weak solution of ACV and water over the wound and the cut.
HICCOUGHS (HICCUPS):
You should drink 1 tsp of ACV neat, or take ACV mixed with water before mealtimes to prevent its occurrence.
VARICOSE VEINS:
Because apple cider vinegar is acidic, you may first want to experiment with a very small area of your skin. Some sensitive skins may develop a rash when using apple cider vinegar. For better results, lie down on a flat surface and put a few pillows under your ankles to reduce blood flow to your legs.
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE:
Health will be maintained if you are prepared to adjust the living and eating habits as ACV is not the cure, but is only a way towards a healthier and happier life. 2 tsp of ACV and honey should be mixed in a glass of water and be consumed 3-4 times a day.
KIDNEYS AND BLADDER:
Drinking diluted apple cider vinegar helps maintain a slightly more acidic environment in your urinary tract. This level of acid is generally enough to diminish the growth of infection-causing bacteria and to help remedy the issue. Additionally, the vinegar delivers a number of nutrients to your body that help support your immune system and combat infection. Aim to drink 1-2 tablespoons in 8 ounces of water daily.
MENSTRUATION:
Cider vinegar therapy will regulate and normalize profuse bleeding. Take 2 tsp of ACV in a glass of water 3 times a day. Plenty of water should be taken during the period because it will help in speedy elimination.
EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS:
Add 1 tsp of ACV to half a glass of water. Pour some mixture in your palm (previously cupped) and put a palmful mixture in the bath. Your skin will return its glory.
MUCOUS DISCHARGES:
Take the usual dosage 3 times a day before the meals. Eliminate rye, corn, and wheat from your diet.
SORE THROAT:
Apple cider vinegar has a multitude of properties that make it a great health and beauty solution. Here are the ones that make it an unbeatable sore throat remedy. Apple cider vinegar balances the pH levels of your throat’s tissues, making them more alkaline or more acidic according to your body’s needs. It also kills the bacteria that cause sore throats. It is also a natural expectorant, which means it loosens and thins the phlegm in your throat, making it easier to breath and swallow. It’s bacterial properties enable it to fight the infection that causes sore throats. It contains prebiotic inulin, which supports your immune system and boosts white blood cell and T-cell counts.
NAIL PROBLEMS:
Fungus thrives when skin surrounding a nail becomes more alkaline. Apple cider vinegar increases acidity, balancing the skin’s pH and killing the fungus. It fights the germs, bacteria, and other micro-organisms that cause nail fungus. It contains anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties that will prevent future fungal infections. The acidity of apple cider vinegar also relieves pain and itching.
NERVOUSNESS:
Take a glassful of water combined with 2 tsp each of ACV and honey, 3 times per day. Eliminate any refined flour and sugar form our diet.
NOSE BLEED:
Apple cider vinegar is a wonderful panacea for all kinds of ailments. Coating the inner surface of the nostrils with organic apple cider vinegar is an amazingly safe and effective natural remedy to stop bleeding from the nose. To prepare this particular home remedy, you need to soak a cotton ball in a bowl containing approximately two to three tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar. Once the cotton ball has soaked up most of the vinegar, place the cotton ball just inside the nostril for five to seven minutes. The high acid content of apple cider vinegar can seal off blood vessels and halt bleeding.
ITCHY SCALP:
Make a solution of ACV (1 tsp) and a glass of water and dip your comb in it. Then comb your hair thoroughly until saturated. Perform it 15 minutes before you wash your hair. The method will help in removing dandruff.
NOSE – STUFFY:
ACV can be used as an inhalant. Use the method just like the one for headaches. This treatment will help you remove congestion and any inflammation which may result from excessive accumulation of mucous.
OBESITY:
Take 2 tsp of ACV in a glass of water each morning before the meal and also during the day over a period of some time. Sip the drink during the meal to prevent overeating and promote digestion.
SHINGLES:
Apply apple cider vinegar two times daily until the infection is dealt with. For using apple cider vinegar as an internal cure as well, mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar along with water or any fresh juice of your choice and consume it every day to accelerate the effect.
TEETH:
You can brush your teeth with it to whiten them up. Use 1 tsp of ACV in a glass of water for the mouthwash and repeat the procedure every night until you receive the required results. Drink ACV to prevent teeth decay, sore gums, or ulcerated gums, but make sure the solution is not too strong.
WEIGHT GAIN:
The vinegar diet claims apple cider vinegar can boost metabolism and aid in weight loss. But no food can rapidly cause weight loss unless changes are made to dietary habits and lifestyle. It also depends on the cause of weight gain for each individual.
WEIGHT LOSS:
There is a good science behind why apple cider vinegar would encourage weight loss even more effectively than eating raw apples. In general, acids help with the digestion of protein, the building blocks for some of our hormones, especially growth hormone. We’ve seen how this hormone is instrumental in breaking down fat cells. By increasing the acid present in your stomach before a meal, you’ll ensure the chances for thorough digestion and increase the availability of protein for hormone synthesis.
FOR A BATH:
Apple Cider Vinegar is a versatile natural remedy and natural home product. It can beinfused with herbs to be a natural cold remedy and health tonic, or sipped to relieve heartburn. Sprayed on skin, it takes the sting out of sunburn and as a foot soak it helps alleviate athlete’s foot. It is also a beneficial natural beauty ingredient in several ways:
COLITIS:
This vinegar made appears safe for most. However, certain things need to be kept in mind when using it. Being acidic in nature, it can cause erosion of dental enamels or mucus membranes if taken undiluted or in large quantities. It may also interfere with certain medicines, especially blood thinners, and may lower potassium levels when you are on diuretic medicines.

The Ese Ororu Story Part 3 (the interview)
14yr old's testimony about her abduction and being sold off into Muslim marriage:
Ese Oruru, the 14-year-old teenager abducted from Bayelsa State and taken to Kano by one Yunusa, said it was only after she got to Kano and saw that the people and the environment were strange that she realised she was no longer at home in Bayelsa.
The teenager in an interview with the Sun News Online, opens up on what exactly transpired and how she met Yunusa.
On how she met Yunusa aka Yellow, the teenager said, “We sell food in Bayelsa; so they (Yellow and his friends), used to come and buy food from us.”
Ese said Yunusa came to Bayelsa to hustle (look for money).
She debunked claims that Yellow is her boyfriend saying, “No, he is not my boyfriend. Like I told you, we sell food in Bayelsa, and so, he used to come and buy food from us. He is not the only one; they are many and I used to play with all of them like my own brothers because they buy food from us. I sell food to them just like that.”
When asked if she could remember the day Yellow took her from Bayelsa to Kano or how it all happened, she said “I don’t know. He didn’t tell me I was travelling to Kano.
She said they did not travel to Kano in Yellow’s tricycle (Keke Napep); according to her, “his keke is at home.
“He didn’t come to the house to carry me and how I travelled to Kano? I don’t know,” she said, “I just followed him. I don’t know how I followed him.”
Ese was told people believed she decided to run away with her abductor because she loved him and wanted to marry him at all cost but she feigned innocence saying, “I know that we used to play with all of them, our customers that come to buy food from our shop. There is nobody that is different. I sell food to all of them and I laugh with all of them. I don’t have anything special with any of them.”
On how she knew she was in Kano since she claims she didn’t know how she got there, Ese said, “I saw that the place was different and the people there are people that I didn’t know.
“So, I knew it was his place because I did not know anybody there, but only him. We went to their house first.
“I knew I was in a strange land but I did not do anything. I did not ask or tell him anything,” she quipped.
“We travelled to Kura the next day with one man like that. He is the chief of the town.
“When we got there, they took me to one place and there they gave me hijab; they put it on me. And after that, they took me to one house in Kura. And from there on Monday, in the morning, we went back to the Emir’s Palace in Kano; then in the afternoon, we travelled back to Kura, to stay in the house.”
When asked what they all went to do at the Emir’s Palace, Ese noted, “At the Emir’s Palace, they were asking him questions. They did not talk to me. They did not ask me anything, but they were asking him. “Then they were speaking in Hausa language and I did not understand the language very well that time; so I didn’t understand what they were saying.”
She responded in the affirmative that it was at the Emir’s Palace she first saw her mother.
Ese said, “I saw her, but I was not able to talk to her. I was just looking at her and she was crying. I just looked at her. I did not know her and I did not talk to her. I can’t even tell if I could recognize her as my mother, I just looked at her as she was crying.”
“But when I saw her on Tuesday at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, I recognized her as my mother.”
Ese went further to say she didn’t get married in Kano as reports had it. In the continued interview, she revealed: see excerpts below:
While you were away in Kano, they said you got married. Is this true?
Ese: No.
Was there any marriage ceremony?
Ese: No, I did not get married to anybody.
But did they convert you to a Muslim?
Ese: Yes.
How did that happen?
Ese: They took me to one place. Before they took me from the house to Kura, they put me in hijab, then we went to Kura. When we got there, they went to one place, and one old man came there and he would say something and they would say I should repeat. Then I would repeat. If the man said something again, they would say I should repeat and I would repeat just like that.
So, that was how you got converted?
Ese: Yes.
There is also this rumour that it was one old man that actually married you and not Inuwa. Is this true?
Ese: I did not get married to anybody.
While you were there in Kano, did you ever fall sick?
Ese: I don’t know.
What kind of medical attention did you get? Did they give you any injection?
Ese: No, I don’t know. But they did not give me because I don’t like taking injections and I will not take injection when I am sick. It was only when they arrested me on Monday in Kano that they took me to the hospital. And when we got here in Abuja, they took me to the hospital again yesterday, Tuesday. Those are the only two occasions that I have gone to the hospital.
Did they give you any medicine?
Ese: Medicine? I don’t know. But if they put it in water or food… They used to give me something, but I don’t know if it is water they used to prepare it. But if I am not well, they would buy medicine for me and I would take. But it was not those types of native medicine. It was from the pharmacy.
Are you happy reuniting with your family?
Ese: Yes, I am happy to go back to my family.
How do you feel now?
Ese: I don’t know how I feel, but I just look calm. I don’t know what to do.
Do you regret what has happened to you?
Ese: Yes.
How?
Ese: I don’t know, but I have caused my mother a lot of trouble and put her into problem.
If you see Yinusa now, what would you tell him?
Ese:I tell you I’m confused. I don’t know what to do (then she started crying).
What were you doing when you were in Kano?
Ese: Nothing.
You mean you just stayed in the house from morning till night?
Ese: Yes. I did not do anything.
I can see that you now speak Hausa language very well.
Ese: Yes. I can speak Hausa very, very well.
Were you speaking Hausa before you left for Kano?
Ese: No.
So, how did you come about it? Did they teach you?
Ese: No. It is because the people there speak only Hausa. They don’t understand English. And when they spoke, I didn’t understand; so I tried and struggled so I could understand what they were saying and communicate with them. That was how I learnt the language.
They call you Aisha. Didn’t you tell them that’s not your name?
Ese: I answered it like that.
What’s your real name?
Ese: Rita.
How would you relate with your other siblings when you get back home?
Ese: I don’t even know. I have a feeling that they would do something to me for this thing that has happened.
Like what?
Ese: I don’t know if my mother will beat me when we get home for what has happened because she may think that I know everything that happened to me.
I don’t think she would do that, considering all the efforts she put to get you back home.
(Then the mother assured her that she would do no such thing, saying she was filled with gladness for seeing her alive).
How old are you? There has been a controversy about your age.
Ese: I am 14 years old.
When were you born?
Ese: I was born in February 2002.
What is your favourite subject in school?
Ese: Mathematics.
And what do you hope to become in future?
Ese: I hope to go back to school and become a nurse in the future.
Your brother said you are a good Christian and member of the Scripture Union in your school and that you used to preach to people. Is this true?
Ese: (Smiles) Yes.
Tell me about it.
Ese: Yes, I am in the SU, but they took it to the senior students and the senior students started misbehaving. So, we in the junior class took our own to a different level to sanitise the whole thing. We hold our fellowship in our class and go out for evangelism.
What is your advice to young girls like you out there, considering what you have gone through?
Ese: They should be careful.
How?
Ese: They should be careful with the people they play with or talk with, because it’s not everybody that is good.
What is your appeal to your parents since you are afraid they are going to beat you?
Ese: I don’t know what to do. I am
confused. I don’t know what really happened to me and I don’t even know where I am. But I know that she is my mother.
What did you miss most while in Kano?
Ese: I missed my mother’s cooking. She used to cook sweet food for me; so I missed good food.
Does it mean you were not eating good food?
Ese: Yes, I was only eating rice and bread.
What would you want your mother to cook for you when you get home?
Ese: Banga soup and starch.
How To Effectively Maintain Your Tires (Must Read)
How To Effectively Maintain Your Tires (Must Read)
Checkout this effective tire maintaining tips, you really need it.
What makes a sound vehicle are; good body, good engine and a good tires. Tires are very important because they are hitting the ground and gets hot and hotter as you drive by.
Many of the accidents on our roads are as a result of bad tires. Some people like “managing” tires with out knowing that such is suicidal. Some like going for the so called fairly used tires thinking it is cheap with out knowing that in a real sense, it is more expensive, considering how many times you will end up changing it from time to time.
Step 1: Locate the recommended tire pressure on the vehicle’s tire information placard, certification label, or in the owner’s manual.
Step 2: Record the tire pressure in all tires using a tire pressure gauge (available at automotive stores and department stores).
Step 3: If the tire pressure is too high in any of the tires, slowly release air by gently pressing on the tire valve stem with the edge of your tire gauge until you get to the correct pressure.
Step 4: If the tire pressure is too low, note the difference between the measured tire pressure and the correct tire pressure. These “missing” pounds of pressure are what you will need to add.
Step 5: At a service station, add the missing pounds of air pressure to each tire that is under inflated.
Step 6: Check all the tires to make sure they have the same air pressure (except in cases in which the front and rear tires are supposed to have different amounts of pressure).
The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) has simplified the process of remembering specific tire care points by developing the tire maintenance checklist P.A.R.T. or:
Pressure—Under inflation results in accidents, irregular tire wear, loss of control, and unnecessary tire stress. A tire can lose up to one-half of its inflation pressure and not appear to be flat! Check tire pressure at least once each month and before long trips.
Alignment—A bad jolt from hitting a curb or pothole can throw your car’s front end out of alignment and damage your tires. Have a tire dealer check the alignment periodically to ensure that your car is properly aligned.
Rotation—Regularly rotating your vehicle’s tires will help you achieve more uniform wear. Unless your vehicle’s owner’s manual has a specific recommendation, the guideline for tire rotation is approximately every 5,000 miles. Check with the retailer you purchased your tires from—many include free tire rotation for the life of the tire as part of your purchase price.
Tread—Advanced and/or unusual wear can reduce the ability of the tire tread to grip the road in adverse conditions such as rain or snow. Visually check your tires for uneven wear. Look for high and low areas or unusually smooth areas. Also check for signs of damage. When tread is worn down to 2/32 of an inch, tires must be replaced. All tires have “wear bars,” which are small raised bars of rubber in the groove that indicate when tires are worn out. If your tread is worn down to the wear bars, it’s time for a new tire. A penny is a convenient way to check tire tread. Simply take a penny and put Lincoln’s head into one of the grooves of the tire tread. If part of his head is covered by the tread, you’re driving with the legal amount of tread. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, it is time to replace the tire.

Other Children Kidnapping before the Ese Ororu story
Beyond Ese, cases of forced marriages, and abduction of teenagers, among others, abound in the country.
Wasila Taisu
In 2014, the name of 15-year-old Wasila Taisu, from Unguwar Yansoro, Kano State, made it to the papers for one of the most unusual things a girl of her age could be popular for – murder. Taisu appeared in court charged with killing her 35-year-old husband, Umaru Sani.
According to the police, Taisu admitted to killing her husband and three of his friends by lacing a meal with rat poison because she did not love Sani, but was forcibly married to him.
Taisu reportedly told her lawyer, Hussaina Ibrahim, that she had been tied to the bed and raped by Sani on their wedding night.
The child bride poisoned her husband only 17 days after the wedding.
In May 2015, the prosecution dropped the murder charge against the teenager.
Zainab Usman
At 13, Zainab, from Kwassaw village in Zamfara State, had at least two suitors who had approached her father for her hand in marriage. However, Zainab’s father, Ibrahim Kanuma, considered one of the suitors, a 63-year-old at that time, to be too old. So he settled for his friend, a 40-year-old man. Zainab resisted and chose to stay in school. She is now a child rights activist.
Maimuna Abdullahi
In June 2014, Maimuna Abdullahi from Kaduna State was still 14 years old when she was given out in marriage to Mahammadu Saidu, who abused her, locked her away and engaged her in hard labour. When she ran home, she was beaten, first by her father, then her husband, who later summarily divorced her for daring to run away. Maimuna was left to suffer, uncared for several weeks before the Founder of the Tattalli Free School, Saadatu Aliyu, took her in and gave her a new life.
Maimuna Abdulmunini
In 2007, four years after the passage of the Child Rights Act, the police arrested and arraigned 13-year-old Maimuna Abdulmunini for killing her 35-year-old husband.
She allegedly burnt the man to death because she was forced to marry him. The case dragged on till Maimuna became 18 in 2012. Then she was convicted for murder and sentenced to death. In 2014, a court ruled that the death sentence was a violation of the teenager’s rights.
Kidnap of the Orekoya kids
One of the most shocking stories of 2015 happened in Lagos in April. A nanny, employed by Mr. and Mrs. Leke Orekoya, via online sales portal, OLX, kidnapped three of their children only two days after resuming work.
More shocking was the fact that one of them was just a baby; they were aged 11 months, four and six.
The abductors demanded N13m as ransom for the children. Fortunately, for the Orekoyas, the police rescued the children a week later as well as arrested the nanny.
It turned out that the nanny, who told her employees that her name was Mary Adebiyi, was actually Funmilayo Adeyemi, a member of a kidnap syndicate.
Adeyemi confessed that she was the mastermind of the crime and that she orchestrated the kidnap of two boys in 2014.
Adeyemi was in the syndicate with her husband, her brother in-law and wife, while her mother-in-law was also involved in the abduction of the Orekoya kids.
Felicia Destiny and Esther Wisdom’s ordeal
In January 2011, seven-year-old Felicia Destiny was abducted at Okpekpe in the Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State by a herbalist, Emmanuel Akpan-Okon.
Akpan-Okon also abducted Esther Wisdom and turned both girls into sex slaves. It was not until November 2015 when both girls were 11 that the police rescued them.
“I never believed I would see my daughter again. I almost died when she was kidnapped in 2011. I am very happy to see her again. I thank the Cross River Police command for rescuing my daughter from the hands of her captor,” Felicia’s mother said after reuniting with her daughter.
Lagos female students kidnapped
The latest abduction happened on Monday night in Lagos and it involved violence. Gunmen stormed the Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary in the Ikorodu area of Lagos and seized three schoolgirls.
A visit by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Bala Hassan; Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Fatai Owoseni, as well as a helicopter search of the school’s vicinity has yet to bring solace to the parents of the abducted pupils.
Meanwhile, Hassan has assured parents of the children that security operatives would do everything possible to rescue them.
“The important thing is to rescue them (and get them) safely back to their parents. It may take a couple of days and it may even be today. We are still going to the offices to do one or two things that will facilitate the recovery of these children.
“For now, we want to keep the identities of the children to our chest and see what we can do today, tomorrow. I want to assure you that the security forces are on top of the situation,” he said.
Mrs. Ushie’s heartache
In September, a man in his 20s was introduced to a fashion designer, Mrs. Ushie, in Boundary, Ajegunle, Lagos.
The young man wanted to become her apprentice and paid the N5,000 she requested for the training.
Four days after he resumed, the boy she knew only as Ayomide disappeared with her two-year-old son, David Ushie.
She had left her son in Ayomide’s care for a short while, returning to find the boy missing. Calls to his numbers yielded no results and she had no clue where he lived.
As of December, neither her son nor the apprentice had been found.
The church as den of rituals
Around 6am on June 25, 2014, Mrs. Gloria Emeka, who resided in the Ogolonto area of Lagos, raised the alarm that she could not find her seven-year-old son.
Her neighbours rallied round her and went in search of the boy she had sent to fetch water from a well earlier.
Among the neighbours who joined the search was Mrs. Rosemary Chukwu, who showed great concern about the development. Two people even went down the well to ensure that the boy did not fall in.
Chukwu eventually left the search party, informing the neighbours that she had a luggage to deliver, promising to join the search afterwards.
She emerged later with a large box on her head and went on her way. As she passed, a suspicious woman urged the neighbours to search the box. When they attempted to do that, she took off.
So, when she was caught the boy was found gagged, but alive in the box.
Chukwu, known as a prayer warrior in the neighbourhood, was a ritualist and she was allegedly said to be taking the boy to the pastor of a church.
The event, no doubt, brought out the other side of the church as a ritualists’ den. At the church and to the shock of many across the country, eight frail men and women were found shackled and rescued. One of them had been in captivity in the church since 2012.
10. Chibok girls
The story of the Chibok girls is in a class of its own. Nigeria has not recovered from it. In fact, many have concluded that the victims and their parents may never recover from trauma accompanying the abduction.
On April 15, 2014, reports came from insurgency-battered Borno State that more than 200 schoolgirls had been abducted from their hostels in Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok.
Though the military responded and arrived at the school, what they met was the charred remains of the school, and wailing and heartbroken parents and pupils.
Boko Haram had gone beyond madness and given a horrified world one of its most shocking and embarrassing cases of kidnapping involving children in recent memory.
Two days after the abduction, the Nigerian military had announced that all but eight of the girls had been freed, but parents and officials of the schools insisted that only 20 of the missing girls had escaped from the kidnappers and returned to their homes. This had forced the military to retract their statements about the rescue.
The girls’ abduction and the shocking negligence displayed by the Federal Government generated global attention and a year later played a crucial role in the ouster of the former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was blamed for responding late to the distress call. Two years on, the girls have yet to be found.

The Ese Ororu Story Part 2
My son never cohabited with Ese — Yunusa’s father By Clifford Ndujihe, Kingsley Omonobi, Abdulsalam Muhammad, Dapo Akinrefon, Wahab Abdullah, Charles Kumolu & Gbenga Oke ABUJA — 14-year-old Ese Rita Oruru, the Delta State-born girl-child, resident in Bayelsa, who was abducted by Yunusa Dahiru, alias Yellow, but rescued by the Police in Kano, has been discovered to be about five months pregnant, very reliable sources have told Vanguard. Ese Rita Oruru, arrived Yenagoa yesterday and she is presently quartered at the police officers mess Yenagoa. She came in company of her mother, Mrs Rose Oruru and securirity escorts who drove them quietly to the Offciers Mess. Yunusa Yellow and Ese Oruru This came as Dahiru Bala, the biological father of Yunusa, declared, yesterday, that his son never cohabited with Ese Oruru because of embedded contraption highly offensive to his religion. This is as some prominent Nigerians, including Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, former Lagos State Police
Commissioner, Abubakar Tsav; Second Republic politician and lawyer, Guy Ikokwu and women NGOs, said the law should take its course on the matter and expressed anger over the teenager’s pregnancy. It was gathered that the white Hijab she wore on her arrival from Kano on Tuesday was used to cover the pregnancy, even though her physical condition and looks created suspicion. Vanguard was told that it was the condition the Police authorities discovered about Ese that informed the IGP, Solomon Arase’s
directive that she should be handed over to
the Gender and Child Protection Unit. A similar directive was given to a team from the Medical Department of the Force to carry out a comprehensive medical examination on the girl at the Police Medical Facility in Area 1, Garki, Abuja. Upon certifying her medical status and emotional state, Vanguard gathered that the Inspector-General of Police, feeling uncomfortable with the transport arrangement of the mother that they returned by road, cancelled the arrangement and directed that both Ese and
her mother be flown to Yenagoa. Meanwhile,
the IGP has directed the Bayelsa State Police Command to take over investigation of the case since, according to sources, the offence was committed in Bayelsa, which is the place of residence of the abductor, Yunusa Dahiru. Consequently, Vanguard was told that Yunusa would be moved to Yenagoa to face interrogation and prosecution for kidnapping and child abuse as well as violence against a girl-child. The Inspector-General of Police had earlier vowed that Yunusa and all other actors in
the seven-month-old abduction saga would be
brought to justice. He said it was the only way the nation would make a clear statement in unison that any individual who violated the sanctity of the rights of children shall be dealt with in accordance with extant laws of the country. The IGP spoke as Mrs. Rose Oruru, Ese’s mother, thanked all Nigerians, the Nigerian Police Force and well wishers, who assisted in one way or the other to ensure her daughter was brought back alive and safe, saying she could not say much for now. Speaking through the Force Public
Relations Officer, ACP Olabisi Kolawole at
Force Headquarters, shortly before Ese’s mother, Mrs Rose Oruru, was led to take custody of her daughter, the IGP said: “Aside prosecution of the actors directly involved in this case, the Inspector General of Police has also ordered an in-house administrative inquiry designed to review the professional conduct of officers responsible for the initial investigation of this case. Any officer indicted of professional dereliction will be firmly dealt with accordingly.” My son never
cohabited with Ese — Yunusa’s father
Meanwhile, Dahiru Bala, the biological father of Yunusa Yellow, declared yesterday that his son never cohabited with Ese Oruru because of embedded contraption highly offensive to his religion”. Yunusa’s Father Dahiru in an exclusive interview with Vanguard at his country home, Kauyen Tofa in Kura local government area of kano State, said: “There was no marriage between my son and Ese Oruru due to contradiction and illegality involved. “The love relationship between my son and Ese was built on
ignorance of their religious backgrounds
which made it difficult for anyone to support their marriage proposal.” Dahiru Bala, 55, disclosed that traditional authorities were fully briefed about an impending illegality when his son, Yunusa, who he said was 25, informed him of his decision to elope with her lover. “I promptly reported the matter to the village head and on their arrival, they were taken to his home, who in turn reported to the District Head at Kura, headquarters of Kura local government area. “Yunusa was a house
help to Oruru’s family for 10 years and
when he told me of his love relationship with Ese, I opposed it because we already have a proposal for him in the village. “Sequel to the request of Ese, she was converted to Islam on the order of the District Head before he was taken to the Emir’s palace for his final say.” The farmer said that on arrival at the Emir’s palace, a senior counsellor who took the brief, summoned the Sharia Commission to take custody of Ese Oruru till the following day when the emir would be available. Shedding
more light on the Yunusa/Ese Oruru love
saga, Dahiru Bala disclosed that the emir, who subsequently met with them, ordered the Sharia commission to liaise with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 1 to return her home with immediate effect. According to Yunusa’s father, “the much anticipated return of Ese Oruru to Bayelsa was truncated by her when she broke down in the AIG’s office and raised safety questions to her life back home. Subsequently, the move was halted to pave way for investigation”. The suspect’s father, who
was surrounded by his village men during
the encounter, said “the last we heard of Ese Oruru was that she was in custody of Sharia commission, who kept her in the home of the District Head at Kura.” She should be allowed to deliver the baby—Tsav Reacting to the development, retired Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav said: “There is a difference between elopement and abduction. If the suspect is of age, he should be prosecuted. If I were in the position of the parents, I would allow her to deliver after which she should be allowed
to make her choice.” Pregnancy unfortunate,
inevitable —Joe Odumakin President of the Women Arise for Change Initiative and the Campaign for Democracy, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin said “it is the most unfortunate aspect of the Ese Oruru saga and it is inevitable. But the fact remains that there are more dangers than one can imagine for a 14 year old to become a mother in such a manner as this.” She, however, added that those found culpable of the act, no matter how highly placed, should be brought to book. She said: “There are no two ways about this, a crime
has been committed by the man, Yunusa alias
Yellow, who abducted the teenage girl all the way from Bayelsa State to Kano State for a forced marriage and conversion of religion. The Nigerian law does not recognise such illegality with an under-aged and nothing should be spared at ensuring that the main culprit and everyone involved, no matter how highly placed, are brought to book.” The law should take its course – Ikokwu Second Republic politician and lawyer, Chief Guy Ikokwu said: ‘’The law should take its course as the molestation
and abuse of children and infants is rampant
in our society. It should not take the intervention of a monarch, the IGP or the governor or president for police officers trained in crime prevention to do their normal work. Ese Oruru’s father has given glory to God as what happened was not Christian or Islamic like the Chibok episode.Asked his opinion on Ese’s pregnancy and what the parents should do, he said: ‘’The pregnancy is a family matter. It is for the family to decide. The abduction is a criminal matter but the pregnancy is a
family issue. Under the law, we cannot
advice the girl to go and commit an abortion. The girl may die in the process. It is for the family to decide.’’ The issue is an embarrassment to Nigeria— Dr Junaid Mohammed “The issue of the elopement of Ese is an embarrassment to this nation and without mincing words, Yunusa shows irresponsibility and the law should take its course on him. Also, the Emir of Kano should be investigated by the police because the statement he gave is not enough to exonerate him in the whole issue. “As far as I am
concerned, this issue has nothing to do with
religion but a fundamental issue that must be tackled head on and I am calling on the Bayelsa State governor to look into the girl’s issue and help her out.” Funmi Falana, Executive Director, Women Empowerment and Legal Advocacy, WELA, said: “it is unfortunate that the young girl has become a victim of violence against girl child in the society. “Her situation or experience could be likened to a rape because she was not properly married and her consents were not sought, which is contrary
to the law. “As it is now, the man should
be arrested and prosecuted and not allowed to go scot free. The punishment is seven years jail sentence. “As to the predicament of the girl, she should not be allowed to bear that child and the accompanied pains because she is not biologically fit for it. If allowed to bear the pregnancy, she may have VVF. A case of a girl raped in Agege was handled by us, the girl was operated upon. “However, if she carried the pregancy eventually, she should be delivered through cessarian session. She should be adequately
taken care of.” Another woman lawyer based
in Benue, Mrs Patience Joseph, who is the coordinator of Nigeria Women Against Poverty, NWAP, said, “The issue is still strange to me. This is because, I can’t imagine how the little girl started fraternizing with the alleged abductor, under the nose of her parents to the extent she was ‘shipped’ out of Bayelsa. “However, this is not the issue on ground now. The only solution is for the state (government) to first determine the condition of the girl, the blood sample of the abductor, and
make adequate medical findings to determine
if he is responsible and also determine if she will be medically fit to carry the pregnancy. “After this, the issue has become a crime against the man, no matter what the circumstances in which he met the young girl. “In Islam under which guise he may hide for instance, it is condition precedent that the consent of the proposed lady must be sought and that of the parent before a valid marriage can be consummated alongside the payment of dowry. “In this situation none of these conditions are met apart from
engaging the little girl in family way
prematurely. So, he must be made to account for his deeds according to the law. “One cannot recommend the abortion of the foetus which is illegal, except on medical conditions, supported by proper directive from a qualified medical personnel.” Neighbours, relations and friends besiege Orurus’ Opolo residence Kidnapped girl Ese Oruru’s mother Rose Oruru looks on at the police headquarters in Abuja, on March 02, 2016. Police authorities have reunited
kidnapped 14 years old Christian girl Ese Oruru with her mother at its headquarters in Abuja. Ese Oruru was abducted from her southern Bayelsa State home and taken to northern Nigerian town of Kura by her Muslim lover, Yunusa Dahiru, who forced her into marriage and converted her to Islam. / AFP
Meanwhile, neighbours, relations and friends of the Orurus including newsmen had besieged their Opolo residence awaiting the arrival their receive when news filtered in that they were at the Mess. A resident who pleaded anonymity said “we are waiting the mother and daughter to be sure that they are back.” At the police officers Mess, journalists were denied access to the girl by security operatives who claimed they were acting on instruction from above. But a police confided in Vanguard saying: “there is a directive that the girl should be accommodated at the Mess for three days because of the trauma she has passed through.” As at the time of filing this report journalists were still keeping vigil at the mess.
